December 23, 1929 - August 29, 2021
In loving memory ~ Helen Mae Graham, 91, passed away on August 29th, 2021 with family by her side.
Helen was born on December 23, 1929 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, where the family lived until moving to Courtenay, BC when she was 16. Helen was married to Walter 'Bud' Graham for 56 years and they raised 8 children. They lived in Cordova Bay, Sooke and lastly in Duncan, where they retired.
Helen was known for her beautiful voice and could often be heard singing away in the kitchen as she prepared meals for her family. She enjoyed being by Bud's side at the shop on weekends while maintenance was done on the many logging trucks that earned their bread and butter or digging a bucket of clams on Whiffin Spit in the dark at low tide. She also enjoyed visiting with her 5 sisters, Betty, Peggy, Marion, Jean and Judy and their families.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Andrew, sister's Betty, Marion, Peggy and Jean, and her husband, Bud.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Janice), Doug (Linda), Les (Shirley), Ron (Jinyu), Sheila, Larry (Lisa), George (Ricci) and Mavis (Mike), her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Judy and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the folks at Sherwood House, where Helen lived comfortably for the last 9 years and all the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Cairnsmore Place, where she spent the last 7 months of her life. She especially loved the gardens at Cairnsmore Place, so thank you to the many volunteers that tend to them.
