Heather Ann Swanson (1949-2018) beloved wife, mother, grandmother and nurse passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side. Heather battled a heroic 8 years against cancer. Heather Marwick was born and raised in Northern Ontario's Atikokan. She went on to nursing school at Lakehead university in Thunder Bay Ont. She met the love of her life Eric Swanson also of Atikokan after he finished his service in the Canadian Navy. They made their way out to the warm west coast and settled on Vancouver Island living 33 years in Chemainus followed by another 12 years in Ladysmith.

They raised three children Glen (Vanessa), Harry (Lindsay) and Laura (John). Heather had a long and treasured career as an RN for VIHA. She had many wonderful friends and loved every minute of her nursing days from CDH to Home and Community care in Lake Cowichan, Duncan, Ladysmith and Nanaimo. Heather was a passionate traveler and saw many places around the world in her active retirement.

She was a very involved grandma to her 5 beautiful grandkids, Devin, Logan, Amy, Gavin and Tikia. Her beautiful smile, contagious laughter and warm hugs will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Her family would like to thank the amazing nurses of Ladysmith home-care and urgent care, the community palliative team, the nurses of CDH on 2south and ER and especially the chemo nurses Sharon and Kim.

A celebration of life is planned at Cedar Community Hall (2388 Cedar Rd) Saturday May 12th 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancers Society or a fund for a memorial park bench to be purchased in town of Ladysmith.
