Hazel was born and raised in Chase River and spent most of her 101 years in the Nanaimo area. She was predeceased by her first husband Corporal Edwin Fiddick in 1945 and by her second husband Harry Shorter in 1989 whom she resided with in Qualicum Beach.
She will be greatly missed by her son Ed Fiddick (Cynthia), her grandchildren Darrell & Judy, her great grandchildren Mariah & Jerrid, her sister Betty and many extended family members.
