Harriet Windley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our loving and caring Harriet Windley. She was surrounded with love when she left this earth to begin her new journey on Jan. 21, 2019 in the NRGH Emergency ward.

Predeceased by her mother Florence Cooper (1962) father Jim Cooper (1995) Brother John Cooper (2016) Son Calvin (1960) son William (1985) son Frank (2007) Daughter Evelyn (2008)

Survived by her husband of 37 years Bill Windley, also her daughters - Patricia, Denise and Rae (Adam). Son -Tony

Grandchildren - Michelle, Kimberley, Kaitlin, Adam, Tyler, Karis, Lauren and Emma. Great granddaughter Hannah. Her sister Fran and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by many. She fought all the odds to reach the age of 76. She always put children first. She was great at organizing events for children and family. She got involved in school activities (Face painting and music were her pride and joy) She umpired softball for the kids and played with the Harewood screwballs in the coffee league. She helped with the beavers (cubs). She put entries in the annual back to school parade. Many times they won first place and the prize was shared with all the kids involved. She attended many school board meetings. She had a gift of knowing who needed a helping hand and often offered one without them having to ask. She was always positive and had a wonderful smile. The room would light up when she entered it. She will be deeply missed but we know she has gone to a better place and is out of pain. She was ready to meet up with family and friends that left before her.

Harriet will have a celebration of life at the Moose Hall 1356 Cranberry Rd. (Located beside the Co-Op gas station south of Nanaimo) Saturday March 30, 2019 from 1 - 4 pm. Feel free to drop by any time and share your stories.
