It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harold Chickite at the age of 81.
Predeceased by his brother Ralph and Ollie, sisters Pauline Wallace, Diane Henderson, Brenda Chickite and Anita Hunt. Harold is survived by his 2 children Tracy (Brian) and Raymond, grandchildren Sarah and Ryan Chickite and Courtnay and Megan Naito. Harold is also survived by his partner Katie McKay, as well as sisters Caroline James, June Johnson, Gloria (Andy) Paul, Geraldine (Keith) Wilson and brother Mel Chickite. Harold had many nieces, nephews, cousins and close loyal friends.
Harold was born and raised in the village of Cape Mudge on Quadra Island and later, lived in Campbell River raising his family.
He fished commercially for herring and salmon starting out trolling and gillnetting, progressing to seining and skippering many seine boats up and down the coast.
Harold's passion was on the water and could often be seen in his herring skiff fishing out in front of the lighthouse, or crabbing or prawning with family and friends on the other side of Quadra Island.
At Harold's request, there will be no service.
