July 24, 1936 - July 14, 2021
Hannelore (Hanna) Theus (nee Durkop) passed away peacefully sitting in her garden on July 14, 2021. Hanna was born in Lüneburg, Germany on July 24, 1936. She went to university to become a kindergarten teacher as she had a true love for children.
In 1959 she married Hartmut (Frank) Theus. Together they had a son before moving to B.C. Canada in 1967 with Hanna's brother Klaus and his wife Gerda and their eldest child.
After raising their son and another 2 children, Hanna returned to teaching in Port Alberni. Hanna was an avid volunteer for many years; involved in 4-H clubs and as a member and eventually the president of the AV Crafts Association.
She loved seeing all of her students and members whenever she was out and about. She touched many people's lives. Hanna had many interests including antiques, crafting, the arts and her garden. She loved all of her many pets, especially her dogs. But, above all, was her family and many friends. She would drop everything to help anyone out. Her love for her family was unequalled and obvious in all she did. She was especially proud of her four grandsons.
To the best Mom & Oma "We will miss you with all of our hearts...until we meet again"
Hanna is survived by her husband Frank, their 3 children, Kai Theus, Katja Theus (Ray), Markus Theus (Rachel), and 4 grandchildren: Cameron Klaholz, Shonn Klaholz, Kohen Theus and Erik Theus. Also Hanna's brother Klaus Durkop of Port Alberni, sister Etta Wolter (Otto) and brother Henning Durkop (Hanna) of Germany and nephews.
A Service to celebrate Hanna's life will be announced at a later date.
