In Memory of Greg Nielsen ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Greg announce his sudden passing. We are beyond heartbroken and devastated at the loss of a loving husband, devoted father, and friend of many.
Born and raised in Nanaimo, Greg graduated from NDSS in 1981. He went on to have a 40 year career with Save on Foods.
Greg was a man of many talents, hobbies, and the envy of all sport competitors. Greg enjoyed being active, he was a skilled soccer player and beloved coach of his children and many young players. Early in his soccer career he won the BC High School Soccer Championship.
Also included in his many accomplishments, Greg was a 3 times Club Champion at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Kamloops and the Kamloops City Golf Champion in 1993, he also made the cut for BC Amateur golf tournament 2 times.
Greg was also a Champion pool player in Courtenay. Greg was a long time member of Nanaimo United FC, Friday Night SMASH Volleyball Club, and the Trail Blazers Mountain Bike Club. Greg and Sue, his wife, shared a love of beach volleyball, pickleball, and biking.
Happiest when on the ocean, Greg loved prawning, fishing, kayaking and giving boat tours at Pachena Bay - his happy place. His family are lucky to have many years of traveling, camping, and fishing memories with Greg.
Among his many hobbies, Greg was a talented guitar player and song writer, leaving his family with several original songs. He was a collector and found joy in collecting sea glass, old vinyl's, cool lights, and antiques.
Gregs' love for his children was above all his greatest accomplishment.

Extended family Isedor, Rick (Brenda), Donna (Gord), Kathy (Blake), Larry (Crystal), and many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Paul.
