July 1, 1966 - June 21, 2021
On Monday, June 21, we lost Greg as a result of complications from muscular dystrophy and other medical conditions he had suffered from for many years.
Greg was born in Victoria, B. C. in 1966 and moved to Courtenay in 1976. This suited his love of skiing, fishing, the outdoors and water sports. From an early age he went out in his aluminum boat at Bates Beach with friends seeking any elusive catch of the day or digging for clams to cook up for an evening feast.
He was a graduate of Vanier high school and pursued an electrical apprenticeship. In 1998 he also completed the approved course of Commercial Helicopter Pilot training. In his early twenties he built a rancher on Partridge Street in Courtenay.
Along with water skiing, his other great pleasure was snow skiing, starting on Forbidden Plateau, Mt Washington and taking trips with his family to Whistler, Banff and Lake Tahoe. Never fearful, he was the first one to the bottom of the hill.
Greg loved spending time in the kitchen with his specialty being lemon meringue pie.
After spending a few years in Calgary with his wife Jane and son Jacob, they returned to Courtenay to live.
Greg will stay with us through special memories; survived by wife Jane, son Jacob, daughter Kirsta, mom and dad Bert and Carolyn and brother Richard and his family.
Greg's battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in facing life's challenges.
Rest peacefully now Greg Love you always
For those wanting to honour Greg's memory with a donation, consideration to Muscular Dystrophy of Canada would be appreciated.
