It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Gregg, in Nanaimo, B.C.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jack & Verity Stewart. Gregg is lovingly remembered as a devoted husband to Teri (nee Savage); a loving brother to his sister Laurie Dyck (Brian), brothers Blair (Debbie) and Guy; son-in-law to Al & Colleen Savage, and brother-in-law to Tammy Galbraith (Doug) and Tracy Savage (Val); as well as Uncle Gregg to many nieces and nephews.
Gregg was born in Vancouver and moved to Chilliwack with his family as a young boy. His favorite pastime was participating in multiple sports. Throughout his high school years, he took pride in working at his family business, Cherry Motors, where he developed his love of cars. He often reminisced of summers lifeguarding at Cultus Lake. After graduating from Chilliwack Senior Secondary, Gregg attended Camosun College and UVIC. Gregg was an employee of Wardair for a few years. He eventually began a long career in construction, primarily house building, finishing carpentry, and restoration projects.
Gregg & Teri married in 1992 and settled in Steveston, B. C. They enjoyed the proximity to the city, where some of Gregg’s favorite places to visit would involve ordering a great hamburger and a beer. Yet they had a fond appreciation for the small village life where they often enjoyed walking to. Gregg’s favorite vacation destination was Hawaii, travelling there many times. He will be remembered affectionately for his collection of Hawaiian shirts and his love of Hawaiian music.
After being diagnosed with ALS two years ago, Gregg and Teri relocated to Nanaimo. Gregg cherished living in their ocean front condo with Teri. Special thanks to the ALS team at GF Strong, Dr. McGlynn, Dr. Quinn, Dr. Cabrera and staff on the 4th floor at NRGH.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the ALS Society of BC. A Celebration of Gregg’s life will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 1 pm at Beach Grove Golf Club 5946 12th Ave., Delta, B. C.
Aloha, Gregg xo.
