It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of an amazing man. Grant passed away suddenly in the early hours of October 3rd at home with his wife, Pat by his side.
Predeceased by his parents, Dave and Norma (nee Woodcock) Dykeman, nephew Brett Graham and niece Jamie Graham.
He is survived by his wife Pat of 38 years, daughters Casey (Kelsey) of Comox, Leah (Scott) of Campbell River and Kathy (Sean) of St. George, Ont.; grandchildren, Sawyer, Gavin, Blakely, Kaelyn, Braydon, Brittany and Rachel; sisters, Lynne (Peter) of Hamilton, Ont. and Robin (Paul) of Vancouver. His lifelong best friend and partner in crime Brent (Debbie) of Comox, and an abundance of sister and brother in laws as well as many nieces and nephews, and amazing friends.
He was born in Toronto, Ontario where he attended college and pursued a career as a helicopter engineer. He moved to Calgary to work for Kenting Helicopters. Here he met and married Pat in 1980 and they had two daughters. In 1985 they moved to Comox where they would spend the rest of their days.
The most important thing in Grant’s life was, without a doubt, his family. He loved the people close to him, especially his grandchildren. “Pa” was their favorite person and his grandchildren will forever hold on to the special memories they shared. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Grant always went above and beyond. He would do absolutely anything to support his family and ensure their happiness. He was proud beyond words.
He will be remembered for his love of fishing, golf, and baseball; watching the Toronto Blue Jays was one of his favorite things.
Grant will be lovingly remembered by those touched by his presence.
We would like to thank the incredible, hardworking first responders, the amazing 911 operator, and Matt and Dan for your professional support and guidance. All of your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
A celebration of life will be held at Crown Isle on Saturday, October 20 at 2 pm.
