Argyle, Gordon S.

September 26, 1952 ~ June 16, 2021

Gordon Argyle cashed out his poker chips after living a life of purpose and integrity. Very social in his childhood and youth in Esquimalt.

Gordon was a driving cars before he was 16, following the lead of brothers Lorne and Dennis. As Gordon entered adulthood, he spent time as a realtor but was then injured in a car accident in 1976 which resulted in him becoming a quadriplegic. Gordon later enrolled at UVic and graduated with a Masters in History. He then embarked on a career as Accessibility Coordinator at UVic's Facilities Management, making the university more physically accessible for students and staff of all abilities. He also volunteered with BC Transit, doing advocacy work for the disabled and equity work at UVic. Some of his favorite pastimes were strategy games (Diplomacy), online poker competitions, and following hockey (Go Leafs!) and football (Steelers all the way!). Gordon's wit, intellect, and kind nature will be missed by all including his surviving family (Lorne, Dolly, Angus, Boon, Lori, Alex, Kaitlyn) and his lifelong friend, Cherri. Special thanks to his friendly & kind care aides.

Memorial Donations in Gordon's name may be made to Spinal Cord Injury BC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at First Memorial Funeral Services.
