Gloria Elizabeth Carpenter (Wilson) was surrounded with love from her sons, Jeffrey, Michael (Chrys) and Steven, during her peaceful passing.
In particular, she would like to acknowledge the love, care and support of her son, Jeff, who has been her rock, being with her and seeing her through her illnesses over the past years.
In lieu of flowers, Gloria would particularly appreciate any donations to be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Vancouver Island Cancer Lodge, Canadian Cancer Society, 2202 Richmond Road in Victoria, BC V8R4R5 which became a haven for her during treatment.
Many thanks and big hugs, to her loving GP, Dr. Julia Hickey-Somerville. Dr. Lynn Fedoruk, Chief, Division of Cardiac Surgery at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria who successfully performed Open Heart Surgery repairing a burst mitral valve in 2014.
In 2020, Dr. Howard Pai, radiation oncologist who made an impressive difference to a rare and terminal cancer, and Dr. Michael Metcalfe who was able to increase her quality of life, enabling her to finish her life in relative comfort.
It has been a very long, 'brutal' bumpy road, where she fought the good fight,, keeping her sense of humour to the end and now it is time for a peaceful transition.
Many heartfelt and very touching messages have been received during her illnesses, especially during the last month, along with flowers and delicious food, all of which filled her soul with comfort and lightness.
She is also survived by her brother Rodger, and his three loving daughters, Leah (Garry), Kristy, and Carly (Matt) and their mother, Terry, who is Nana to their delightful children. These children have added so much pleasure to her final days, visiting the fairy garden (originating and maintained by her Garden Angel, Lee Kalnin) and sharing some of the toys and books always in evidence!
Her passion for life focussed particularly on working creatively with children; she was indeed a child at heart. A new light has been added to the heavens. Look skyward.
