October 17, 1941 - May 21, 2019
Glen was born October 17, 1941 in Vancouver BC. He passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side, on Tuesday May 21, 2019 at his home in Cumberland after struggling with Parkinson's and a stroke. Glen's care and concern for his family and friends stayed with him and he was smiling right until the very end.
He was predeceased by his wife Lorretta Waldref (2018); father and mother, Archie (1990) and Averial (2006); his brother Bruce (2018); and his sister Joyce (1972).
He is survived by his two daughters Theresa Brydon and Loretta Curtis (Dave); his grandsons Ronny Franz (Carly), Gregory Curtis (Jennifer) and Andrew Zaplotinsky; as well as many nieces, nephews and great grand children.
Glen had a fulfilling life with jobs as a commercial fisherman, hotel management, accountant, taxi driver, school bus driver, Westmin Mine coach driver. Due to being diagnosed with Parkinson in 2001 Glen retired from bus driving to the Westmin Mine. He raised his family in Campbell River before making his home in Cumberland in 1981. Glen always said the best job he ever had was being a dad.
Glen spent a lot of his retirement years camping, player poker and billiards. After his Parkinson's progressed to far he left playing poker and focused on playing billiards at Chalks, the Avalanche or the Evergreen Seniors Centre. He also enjoyed going to karaoke with his daughter, although he never sang!
Wherever he was, whatever he was doing, he was always smiling. He will be loved and missed every day.
A very special thank you to Dr. Nap, Dr. Reggler and all the wonderful support staff from VIHA/Community Health Services. Everything you did to help him is greatly appreciated by his family.
