September 27, 1943 - July 6, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Arthur Brownlee on July 6 2021 in the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo General Regional Hospital.
Born September 27, 1943 in Kirkland Lake Ontario, Glen's family settled in Nanaimo in 1947 where he grew up as a Northfield kid. An avid sports fan and passionate golfer, Glen was a longtime member of Mt Brenton Golf Club.
He was a kind, caring and gentle man who loved his family. Glen was always there to lend a helping hand to friends, family and neighbors. A Carpenter by trade, Glen owned Brownlee Construction until his retirement in 2005, building many homes in Nanaimo and around Vancouver Island.
Glen was predeceased by his father Art, mother Pearl, and Sister Betty. He is survived by his wife and best friend Carolyn, daughter Jennifer, son-in- law Farren, granddaughter Sarah and his brother Jim.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers of the Palliative Unit at NRGH for making Glen's final days as comfortable as he was. You are truly angels among us, and we appreciate everything you do.
There will be no funeral service by Glen's wishes. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Nanaimo Palliative Care unit of NRGH or the Canadian Cancer Society.
