Gertrude Pryde

March 29, 2019

Gertrude (Trudy) Pryde, born March 2, 1927 in Vancouver British Columbia, passed away at the Wexford Creek Seniors Care Centre March 29, 2019.

Trudy passed with her four loving children at her side. Trudy was predeceased by her husband Charles (Chuck) who passed away just 3 weeks ago, the love of her life for 70 years, and the best 'darn' dance partner she could have wished for. Oh, how she loved to take a turn around the dance floor or any space when she had a mind to.

Along with her children she is also survived by many grand and great grandchildren. Gertrude left high school early to attend Business College. Upon graduation she accepted employment and prospered in her career with Libby and McNeil. Trudy was the consummate homemaker and mother, and therefore a role model to many.

She embodied kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and compassion. While her children were growing up, she not only completed her High School Diploma, but was a tireless volunteer as a board member, secretary and determined fundraiser for local chapters of International Order of Job's Daughters, Burnaby and Port Alberni Competitive Swim Teams and too many more to list.

Trudy was a 'get 'er done' gal. She helped her Chuck by being his "Girl Friday," in support of his volunteer activities with the Nanaimo Yacht Club and Canadian Power Squadron Regional and National initiatives. Trudy loved to travel with her Chuck and over the years had many holiday adventures on six of seven continents and in four different oceans. She had a good sense of humour and was a quick wit. Trudy was an avid leisure reader, enjoyed crafts, was a budding painter and enjoyed attending musical and theatrical performances.

Our mother was loved by many and will be missed by all!

A joint Celebration of Life/Memorial gathering will be announced.
