In loving memory ~
We are saddened to announce the passing of Gerry Elliott on May 17, 2022 at Nanaimo Regional Hospital after a challenging two-year struggle with cancer.
Gerry was born in Hamilton, Ontario in August 1941 and spent the majority of his adult life in Alberta. In 2013, Jan and Gerry relocated to Qualicum Beach to enjoy their retirement. Gerry was active in Qualicum Beach Newcomers' Club where he helped organize many activities and outings, and very much enjoyed his new connections and made many new friends. His Wine Group is still going strong and until recently he participated enthusiastically. Gerry was a "people person", making many new friends and connections throughout his life. He enjoyed getting to know people and especially making them laugh. He was a big guy with a big heart.
In his career he was an early adopter and user of computers and technology. Gerry developed and sold many new systems applications. English sports cars were another passion and he owned a variety during his lifetime. He learned mechanics as a young man at his father's car dealership and later in life fixed many vehicles for friends, always happy to do diagnostics for that "funny clunk" under the hood.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife Jan, and his children Erin, Craig, Leslie and Jennifer and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Stuart and Stella Elliott and his younger brother Warren. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date this year.
