December 8, 1936 - July 7, 2021
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my dear husband of 59 years.
Gerry passed away peacefully at Cairnsmore Place in Duncan leaving behind his wife, Dorothy, son Tim (Vanessa), daughter Teresa (Rob), brothers Barry and Butch (Mary), and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was a logger, fisherman, construction worker, truck driver, fence builder, and in his later years Gerry's mobile donut shop was a familiar sight at exhibitions, fairs and baseball tournaments up and down the Island.
Gerry was a life member of the Cowichan Bay Fire Department, having served as a firefighter for over 10 years. He also volunteered a lot of time to the Cowichan Exhibition and the Cobble Hill Farmers Institute.
Gerry and Dorothy enjoyed "Going South" for 25 years, spending time in Arizona and Mexico, and sailing on a Panama cruise for their last trip abroad.
Thank you to the staff and health care workers at Cairnsmore Place for the loving care they gave Gerry during the 1 ½ years he spent there and to Pastor Norm Sowden of the Mill Bay Baptist Church for his support.
Gerry loved his family greatly and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice, in Gerry's honour.
A Celebration of Gerry's Life will be held at 1:00 PM on July 31, 2021 at the Mill Bay Baptist Church, 2095 Dickson Road, Mill Bay.
