Predeceased by his daughter Lena, parents Gerrit and Elisabeth VanKooten and sister Mickey Weening. Survived by his wife of 56 years Belva (Alwood), daughters Margaret Onyschtschuk (Paul) and Belva Levang of Port Alberni, B.C.; Jacqueline Kreeger of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and Georgina VanKooten of Mission, B.C.
Ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Brothers Joe (Enid) VanKooten and Jake (Elaine) VanKooten of Port Alberni, B. C.; John (Wendy) VanKooten of Kelowna, B. C. and Casey (Patryce) of Victoria, B. C. Sisters Lena Groenendyk, Jean Woppenkamp, Liz Merx of Port Alberni, B.C. and Pat VanNus (Dirk) of Maple Ridge, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and no service by his request.
