December 27, 1951 - August 15, 2020
It is with heavy heart and sadness that we announce the passing of our brother George Herbert Armishaw on Aug. 15, 2020 in White Rock, BC to brain cancer.
Born Dec. 27, 1951, George grew up in Cedar, BC on Armishaw's "Baby's Own Dairy" farm, the youngest of 4.
In his teens, with hair down to his waist, he played in a popular Nanaimo Rock Band "Dawg Honk". He eventually was handed down the running of the farm, until it was sold in the late '80's.
George spent most of his life in Nanaimo, eventually moving to Horseshoe Bay, then settling in White Rock.
Over his life, George did everything from farming to truck driving to real estate, and beautifully renovating houses - but his true talent was in the writing of songs. His words were witty, deep and contemplative.
His guitar style upbeat. He was often described as "The Real Deal". A talent that will be missed by many.
George was honest, humorous, generous, and had a sense of excellence.
Predeceased by his parents, George and Peggy Armishaw, and left to mourn his passing, is his partner Rebecca (Bex) Bell whose loving dedication to George's comfort and care in his final months was extraordinary.
He will also be sadly missed by his daughter Denise Rocher Parker, Vilna, Alta.; sisters Carol (Bill) Leynard, Nanaimo, Judy Mitchell, Gabriola Island, Susie Armishaw, Procter; Samantha Dubinski, Vancouver, and close friends Jovanka Dubinsky/ Peter Wolski, Cedar-By-The-Sea, whom we would like to thank for their unending support to everyone involved. Also left behind are 3 nephews, 3 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren and several cousins.
There will be no service. Condolences can be made at www.amherstcremation.com/memorial
Rest in Peace Bro'.
