It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Dad, Grampy and friend, George Ernest Sidney, 75, on Jan. 2, 2022.
He will be forever remembered by his children, David Sidney, Andrea Sidney-Richard (Jeff) and his granddaughters, Savanna and Marissa, who were a bright light in his life.
George will be dearly missed by his close and lifelong friends & family.
He is described by his friends as a caring and thoughtful man, whose door was always open and who would lend a hand whenever needed. He will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and pride in his family that were always present.
Interests that kept him busy over the years included photography, golf, reading mystery novels, classic cars, air shows and going to Junior hockey games in Kamloops.
Some of his travel adventures included multiple Mexico trips and exploring Thailand and Vietnam.
In his past, George was passionate about his role as an Auxiliary RCMP member in Chetwynd, Dawson Creek and then in Parksville. George was also an active member of the Parksville Kinsmen Club.
He was a dedicated BC Hydro employee for 38 years. He worked in a variety of roles with the majority of his career being a Design Work Leader.
Throughout his career George lived and worked in many locations in BC; Prince George, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Parksville/Qualicum, Nanaimo and Kamloops.
He retired at age 58 while in Kamloops and soon after made the move to Chilliwack BC which was his home for the past 15 years.
George was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Rose, his siblings, Margaret, Shirley, and Bob. As well as Bob (brother in-law) and Lanni (niece).
At George's request there will not be a memorial service. He did not want us to dwell on his passing but to remember him for the man he was and the memories of the good times we have shared.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
