In loving memory ~

George Harrison, 99, of Parksville died peacefully on October 8th, 2024.

George was born on June 21, 1925 in Liverpool England to Gwendolyn and William, the youngest of three siblings.

George is predeceased by Peggy his beloved wife of 64 years, his beloved daughter Penny, and his siblings John, Francis and Ethel, as well as much loved in-laws. George is survived by his son Robert (Barbara), grandchildren Kimberly, Andrew (Karena), and great grandchildren, Antonio, Alexandria, James and Benjamin.

George, Peggy and Rob came to Canada in 1953, starting their new lives in Toronto. This move had George leave family very dear to him. Over the years he treasured fun filled visits back and forth. Surviving George in England are nieces and nephews, David (Jean) Joan (Ray) Andrew (Julie) Jed (Jean), Mandy (Andy) and their families.

In 1989 Peggy and George, upon his retirement from the Toronto Transit Commission, moved to Vancouver Island, fulfilling a dream.

George was a proud member of the Royal British Navy joining at 17, and serving as a signal man. During the waning days of the war he was stationed in Esquimalt where his love affair with the west coast began.

George and Peggy spent many happy years in Parksville, being with family who now lived on the coast and enjoying their get a way place in their much loved Victoria.

George was very active with the St. Anne's St. Edmunds Anglican Church and immensely enjoyed being a lay reader and choir member.

George dearly loved the theatre and was an accomplished actor in Toronto, and with the Echo Players in Qualicum.

George had a great appreciation of a variety of classical music, and old movies. He was an avid fan of the Liverpool Football Club, and enjoyed a close game. He was well read on a wide range of topics and a week before his death played a good game of Trivial Pursuit with a Guinness in hand. George loved a Sunday drive, followed by a great meal out, and some good conversation.

We were all blessed by George's gentle, congenial, warm, graceful, generous fun loving spirit.

Rest in peace George.

You will forever be remembered in our hearts.

The family thanks Stanford Seniors Village for the compassionate care provided to George.
