It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George James Duncan on February 19, 2018, surrounded by his family. George is survived by the love of his life, Sylvia, whom  he was married to for almost 53 years, and his children Marlene (Peter) Dhaene, Shelley Butler and Jamie (Barb) Duncan.

He will also be dearly missed by his beloved grandchildren, Curtis, Arabella and Alexander.  George is also survived by his two sisters, Sandy (John) Hook and Barbara (Wayne) Ketch, as well as his lifelong best friends, Ed and Linda Watkin and Ken Ramwell.

George had many things that brought him joy in his life, but the main one was his family. He was always there to lend a helping hand or give good advice with his vast amount of knowledge about so many different things. In his retirement he and mom spent countless hours in their garden producing beautiful dahlias that so many in the community have had the opportunity to enjoy over the years.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Philippson for his incredible care, kindness and compassion given to George and the family, as well as Dr. Val Masuda and the very special nurses in the Chemotherapy Unit at CDH.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the amazing family members and friends who have been there for all of us through this difficult journey.  The outpouring of love and support from all of you has been overwhelming and we are so very blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held for George on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Mellor Hall at 2:00 p.m.

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration.

The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning, and that laughter is life's sweetest creation.
