George was born in Campbell River, son of George and Martha Brown of Shelter Bay and resided on the family property all of his life. He was the grandson of Pioneers William and Hannah Storie of Storie's Beach. He was predeceased by his only sister Isy Shillito.
George will be greatly missed by his wife Carol of 62 years, four children Rob, Vance (Ann), Sari (Bob) Staniforth, and Jim (Christie), four grandchildren Tait (Jasmine), Curtis (Megan), Cameron (Sara), and Faith, four great grandchildren Cohen, Colin, Maria, and Renee. Brother in law Gus Shillito and family.
George loved the outdoors and was well known as the Bee Keeper in Shelter Bay. Bee keeping was his passion. People came form far and wide for over 55 years for his Fireweed Honey.
