It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our father. George passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Survived and cherished by his wife Jeannie Lemoire, son Aaron Forsyth (Emily Harmsen), daughter Ashleigh Forsyth, stepson Etien Leichner (Jenna), stepdaughter Celine Leichner (Atilla Beszedes), grandchildren Sam Forsyth, Indiana and Mackenzie Leichner.
Survived by sisters Margaret Payne, Marjorie (Ed) Procyshyn, Roslyn (Doug) Guise, predeceased by brothers Randy and Rodger and sister Marion (George) Barker (d. October 2, 2020) and parents Alexander and Mary Forsyth (nee McGlashan). George will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
George was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, then spent more than 30 years in Kingston where he completed a degree from Queen's University and worked as a respected Corrections Officer for 25 years.
Following retirement, he and his wife moved across country to Fanny Bay in the Comox Valley, British Columbia. There he enjoyed countless rounds of golf, exploring the island, landscaping and cooking. A true gentleman, George was well-known for his selfless kindness and generosity towards everyone, as well as his unwavering sense of humour.
Cremation arrangements have taken place and trees will be planted as tributes in Kingston and Fanny Bay.
