Gary passed away peacefully at Trillium Lodge Hospice in Parksville, BC.

He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Edna, and infant son Daniel.

Gary will be forever remembered by his wife of 39 years, Beverley, his children Sean, Kirsten (Ross), and Ian (Janet).

He will also be missed by his brothers Terry (Barbara) and David (Judy), Bev's extended family John (Margaret), Janette (Rob), Mother-in-law Norma, and many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Salford, England and raised in Kitimat BC and from there had a varied career including framer, draftsman, plan checker and finally building inspector for the Regional District of Nanaimo.

Gary had a passion for the outdoors. He loved camping, canoeing, fly fishing, and exploring as many wild places as possible. He shared his adventurous spirit with his family and everyone he met. Gary was a talented wood worker and carver, a talent he inherited from his father. He made beautiful pieces and shared them widely.

Gary impressed everyone who knew him for his fortitude, patience and goodwill as a twenty-year survivor of multiple myeloma. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Steve Nantel, and the many other compassionate caregivers who supported him through this illness.

An informal celebration of life will be held in the spring. Please contact the family for details.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program of BC (http://www.leukemiabmtprogram.org).
