It is with heavy hearts the family of Gaetano "Gaits" Spitery announce his sudden passing of a heart attack on April 22, 2022, at the Courtenay Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Donna and son Jay Spitery. Gaits is survived by his daughters, June Wood, Joan Mathias and Jody (Timothy) Waring and Joe; grandchildren Crystal, Daniel, Hannah, Matson and Nathan as well as many other family members and friends.
Gaits was born in Malta on May 31, 1933. He came to Canada in 1952, met Donna in 1958 and was married to her for 59 years. Gaits was a custom home builder throughout the oceanside area. He took an early retirement to travel (Snowbirds 13 years) with his wife Donna. He was known for his wine making and in his leisure enjoyed fishing, was an avid movie buff and loved his daily walks on the Parksville Boardwalks.
Gaits will be truly missed by all who knew him.
