It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, Dad, Opa, uncle and friend.
Fred immigrated to Canada from Bremen Germany in 1951. He never lost sight of his German roots; he visited his parents and siblings often, and taught his language, recipes and values to his family.
Fred spent his career as a technician at the Pacific Biological Station, specializing in salmon research and much of his time was spent working at Babine Lake, BC. He was an avid fisherman who loved traveling, cooking, swimming, wildlife, and above all, his family. Fred's intellect, wit, and humour lit up any room. He was full of love.
Married 63 years, Fred will be truly missed by the love of his life Dorothy. He also leaves behind his son Mark (Corinna), daughter Diane (Noel), sister Marlies, brother Wilfried, 5 grandchildren; Eric, Richard, Paul, Karlee, and Andrew, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his sister Hannelore, sister Elfi, and brother-in-law/best friend Erich. Fred touched the hearts of so many and his legacy will live through all of us who knew and loved him.
Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life with extended family and friends will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so.
Our family asks that you plant flowers or donate to a charity of your choice in Fred's honour. "Ich liebe dich, mein engel"
