It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Frank Watson on the evening of March 15, 2018.  Frank was born on May 6, 1949 in Arichat, Cape Breton Island, NS, into the Stone family of Lynch's River.  He was adopted at age 3 by his loving parents, Fred and Eileen Watson, and was raised in Victoria, BC.

He attended St. Louis College, and after graduation, worked at the Times-Colonist Newspaper for 9 years.  Frank then joined BC Hydro and spent the next 34 years in various departments, retiring from the Victoria Stores Dept. Frank has always been involved in community life, from St. John Ambulance (Brigade and First Aid Instructor), to his church and music involvement at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Victoria and later at St. Elizabeth's in Sidney. He also volunteered time with the Donkey Section at the Saanich Fall Fair.

In later years, he found great joy through his involvement with the Sunshine Singers (at Sidney Care, Resthaven Lodge, Abbeyfield, the Shoal Centre and Mt. Newton Centre) and the Sidney Wednesday Night Acoustic Jam (at the Shoal Centre). In 2016, he was so honoured to receive a Sidney Heart of the Community Award in appreciation of his work encouraging music in our community.

After being an only child for 50 years, Frank had the good fortune to meet his birth family in 1999. They embraced him with open arms and he was so grateful that they were part of his life.

Losing Frankie has left a huge void in all our lives. Frank was an honourable person who always tried to live with integrity and humility.  He loved his family and friends. Happiness for Frank was spending an evening with friends, chatting or playing tunes for hours on end.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Eileen Watson, his birth parents, his brothers, Billy, Peter, James, George and Albert.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy and daughter, Christiane; his siblings, Kelly Clannon (Nancy), Patricia Chislett (Dave), Linda Brennan (Lionel), Joe Ambrose (Shaelene), Helen Hines (Clancy), Annabelle De Wolfe (Albert), Frank Stone (Jeanette), Harold Stone, Carl Richards (Joan); relatives Betty Stone, Serena McNeil, Eva Robertson (Ernie); sisters-in-law Ethel Stone, Alice MacDonald, Anne Kochems, Jane Hepp Robilliard, Ellen Brown (Charlie); his canine buddy, Amber Jane; as well as many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends who have enriched his life immeasurably.

In celebration of Frank's life, a memorial tea and music jam will be held at the Shoal Centre, (10030 Resthaven Dr., Sidney, BC) on March 24, 2018 from 1 - 4 pm.  Please feel free to bring memories of Frank and/or an acoustic instrument to join in the music.

Flowers are gratefully declined - if desired, donations in Frank's memory may be made to the Mt. Newton Centre, The Shoal Centre or the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Music Therapy Program.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of the Lung Care Unit at RJH - we will never forget your professional skills or the kindness shown to Frank and our family.

Rest in peace, Frankie.
