Francine Dagenais brought liveliness and beauty everywhere she went. She was born in Montréal, where she met the love of her life, Andrew Collard, when they were teenagers. They hitchhiked to the west coast in 1971 and never left. Sooke became their home and there they raised their daughters, Juliane and Rosemary.
Francine loved to dance, garden and weave, and was an enthusiastic member of the Sooke weaving community. She was a retired educational assistant who worked at Journey and Sasseenos, where she combined her love of children, the French language, and playful learning.
She passed away with Andrew, Juliane and Rosemary by her side and will be missed by her siblings, extended family, and dear friends in BC, Quebec, and beyond. Anyone wishing to honour Francine may consider donating to Respecting Aboriginal Values and Environmental Needs: raventrust.com.
