April 27, 1929 - December 3, 2019
Frances Mary Terry, age 90, went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2019. Frances passed away in palliative care at Comox North Island Hospital, with family present. Frances was born April 27, 1929 in Consort, Alberta to Edward Quinlan and Margaret Quinlan.
Frances was a kind, gentle, beautiful lady of faith, who was tireless in her determination to show love to all.
Frances was predeceased by her husband of 60 years - George Edward Terry (Oct 2017). She is survived by their four children: Marie Bidwell (Terry), Patrick Terry and Kim Harding (spouse), Warren Terry, Kathleen Bohn (Terry) and Kevin Bohn (spouse). The grandchildren are: Jenna Bohn, Brianna Bohn, Victor Bidwell, Jesse Bidwell, Thomas Bidwell and Patrick Bidwell. Frances is survived by her sister Kay Rennick (Quinlan) and predeceased by their parents and their brothers - Joe Quinlan and Jim Quinlan.
Frances grew up in Consort, Alberta on the family homestead. After high school at the age of seventeen, she travelled by train to Humbolt, Saskatchewan to attend nursing school. She became a registered nurse.
In 1955, Frances attended a church young adult event and met the "Love of her Life", a young man named George Terry. They married a year later on December 1, 1956, started a family and spent the next sixty years together.
Frances worked in nursing while in Saskatchewan doing hospice care. For seven years Frances and George owned "Terrys Grill", a restaurant in Bienfait, Saskatchewan before heading to BC. Frances returned to nursing at Riverview Hospital in Port Coquitlam, BC and stayed for the next 21 years before retiring when George retired from teaching. They both took care of their hobby farm in Port Coquitlam, BC, until 1994 when they relocated to Bowser on Vancouver Island, remaining here for the next 25 plus years.
Service will be: Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Roman Catholic Church of the Ascension, 11am officiated by Father Michael Favero, 887 Wembley Road, Parksville, BC.
