Frances Anne Behan (nee Berger)

November 19, 1939 – February 27, 2021
On the evening of February 27th 2021 we lost our sweet, precious Mom and Grandma, under the full moon, which lit her way brightly to the Lord.
Our Mom had great faith and it showed through her many kind actions and compassion for others. Mom gave of herself freely to all her friends and family and to anyone who needed a helping hand, and volunteered numerous years of her life to charity. She worked many years as a drug and alcohol counsellor in Yellowknife and the Comox Valley. Mom did the Lord’s work serving others, with love and kindness.
Mom had a quiet, stoic and gentle demeanour, but had Great strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
She always said “Be nice to one another and treat each other kindly” and she truly lived by those words.
Mom also had unbelievable devotion to her family and would do anything for them.
Even in the face of illness, Mom never complained and was amazingly strong. She taught us what strength and humility look like. Mom didn’t need a lot to make her happy. She was humble in her actions and soft spoken with her words. Family and friends is what brought joy to her life.
Mom loved her Friday night Bingo and enjoyed the company of many friends there as well.
Mom had fond memories of the many places she travelled around the world, accompanied by many friends and family. Poland was one of her favorite places.
Mom had a large mixed family of 14 brothers and sisters. Mom never forgot the kindness of the Hooff family, especially Diane who brought her home from school as a friend and the Hooffs welcomed her into their home and family with open arms. They truly loved Mom as one of their own.
The Behan Family was also a very special part of Mom’s life and she loved them dearly as well.
Mom was predeceased by her paternal parents Joseph and Molly Berger, her foster parents: Rene and Ray Hooff, her brothers: Vic, Kenny, Ray, and Richard Berger and Brothers Chuck , Brent, Barry, and David Hooff.
Mom is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Behan, Charlene Miller (Vince) and her only Grandson, and her pride and joy, Montana Miller.
Also her sisters: Diane Winton, Terri Moroz (Cliffe), Fern Moroz (Max), Yvonne Tanti, Val (Bill), brother Dennis (Anna)
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Lori and Dave Kennedy, Carrie and Family, Lisa and Brian Saunders, for your kindness and love towards Aunty Fran, she adored you all.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to All the nurses at the Comox Valley Hospice Society, for treating our Mother and Grandmother with the utmost respect and dignity. Their devotion and kindness made this journey for us a little more bearable. These nurses have a great gift of compassion for others.
Also thank you to Dr. Matous for putting our minds at ease in Mom’s final hours.
Thank you to Dr. Green for over 30 years of care you gave to our Mom.
Another special thanks to Jenn Wells of Piercy’s Funeral Home for your support and compassion for our Mother and our Family.
A huge thank you, to Pastor Jan who always gave our Mom, great peace and hope. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Thanks Dad and Shirley for helping ease the burden of our tremendous loss.
Donations in lieu of flowers, to The Comox Valley Hospice Society.
A small family service will be held at the Northgate Church.
She made Broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders, and made it look like a pair of wings.
All that we are and ever hope to be, we owe to our Angel Mother.
We will miss you Mom,
until we meet again.
