Father, Patriarch, Grandfather, Richard Hugh Mellson. Age 93, pre deceased by beloved Wife Delores Mellson (nee Wilson) and daughter Doneen. Hugh was born in Prince George, BC & later relocating with his family to Vancouver Island in 1929.
He began his career in Victoria, later upon seeing an opportunity for himself and his growing family, relocated to Cowichan Bay in 1967. Here he put down roots by purchasing a family home, establishing Cowichan Collision and raising his family. Hugh and Delores had five children Dawn, Patricia, Rick, Ron and Paul.
Hugh's business was very well respected in the Valley flourishing with the years. His larger achievement and greater joy was his family which was steadily growing. Along with Patricia, Rick, Ron and Paul he is survived by 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Hugh retired from Cowichan Collision in 1988 enjoying 30 comfortable years of retirement.
Hugh was rarely short on words, conversation came easily to him rewarding him with many friends. He was readily offered a seat in any friend or family members automobile, boat or R.V. Hugh was a great co pilot and always up for a drive be it near or far. Even though Hugh liked to travel his heart was firmly anchored with the people and beauty of the Cowichan Valley.
Hugh will be dearly missed.
