In Loving Memory ~
Mom was born, lived and died on her own terms. Born on a back road, in a storm, delivered by her dad in a car, mom came into the world with a bang.
Her family moved from Arborfield Saskatchewan to Flin Flon Manitoba, Cranberry Portage Manitoba and then in 1957 to Campbell River. She worked at the Terminal Cafe where she met our dad, Jack Knowles. 10 days after their first date they were engaged and 5 months later they were married and were together for 42 years. They immediately started their large family of 6 children Phyllis Mandseth (Dennis), Debbie Laursen (Cliff ), John Knowles (Patricia), Linda Hooper (Rick), Cari Knowles (Bert), Evaline Duff (Hazen).
While raising 6 kids on a farm, working hard everyday she also had the task of raising every child us kids brought through the door, she loved each and every one like her own. When her youngest child entered school she decided to go back to work and got a job at the Coast Discovery Inn in which she ended up having a career there for over 20 years.
After retirement mom got to live her best life. She lived on the ocean at the spit, flew in a plane for the very first time, got a tattoo and also got to enjoy time spent with her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mom got sick and after a lengthy stay at the hospital she got a great opportunity to live at Discovery Harbour Care Centre. We have enormous gratitude for the staff for their endless love and care mom received while living there. The staff was an integral part of the longevity of moms life. The amount of love they showered her with was incredibly heart warming to see. On May 23 mom left this world to go to the open arms of loved ones on the other side. Mom said she didn't want a big deal made of her so no service by request.
