(Eva) Lois Rye

With great sadness we announce that Lois passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

She will be forever missed by her husband of 66 years, Orlan, daughter Sharon (Etty), son Dan (Randi) Rye, & daughter-in-law Darla (Tate), Grandchildren Jennifer Etty (Gordie), Sarah (Sean) Creally & Kristine (Mike) Kanigan, Great Grandchildren. Ryan, Kayla & Eva. Survived by brother Mel (Betty) Smith, numerous nieces & nephews.

Predeceased by parents David & Kathleen Smith, siblings Roxy, Edwin, Keith & Anne, son David, grandson Dean, & granddaughter's husband Ken.

Mom was born in Quesnel, B.C. This is where she met & married Orlan March 10, 1951. They moved to Nanaimo in 1957 before settling in Qualicum Beach in 1959. They purchased Muir's Market, later known as Rye's Red & White, where Mom worked timelessly alongside Dad for years. All the while raising three children.

In the early years Mom was an active member of the Kinettes, a Rotary Ann & a charter member of the Qualicum & District Curling Club. During the working years, a hunting trip to Alberta with Mel & Betty every October was a highlight. Over these years many life long friendships were made.

Retirement years led to more travel with the Palm Springs area being their favorite destination. They also continued their life long love of camping.

Mom was a very caring person, always putting family & friends before herself. Visits from her grandchildren & great grand children were always special moments for her. Hersenseofhumorwillbe missed.Shekeptittotheend.

The family wishes to thank Tara & her Palliative CareTeam for their unending support.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oceanside Hospice Society.
