July 27, 1925 - August 6, 2019
The life's journey of Eunice Dennis began in New Westminster, July 27, 1925. Born the youngest of six children to Mariah and Frederick Miles, Eunice was predeceased by brother Freddie Miles and sisters Hilda Miles, Phoebe Bateman (Joe), Muriel Monk (Bill), and Dorothy Miller (Otto), as well as her parents.
In her youth, Eunice loved to dance, skate, bowl, and play baseball. At the age of 19 she married Leonard John Dennis on July 4, 1945. They had six children; Sylvia Hurford, Marjorie Dennis (deceased), Barbara Dennis, Helen Cook (James), Joanne Roy (Dennis MacGillivray), and Robert Dennis (deceased).
Eunice joined the St. Joseph's Hospital staff as a laundry worker. She became active with HEU and was chairperson for several years.
She loved to work for the church as children's choir director, CWL member, and caretaker of altar linen.
Eunice's penchant for peace, collaboration, fairness and social justice served her community in the wings rather than the spotlight.
She leaves this legacy of love to her children and grandchildren Dianna Hurford (Jon Wolferstan), Brian Hurford (Leah), Christina Hallworth (Justin), Christopher Roy and Carene Roy (Corey). She will be lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren Brianna Hallworth, Kaya Dennis, Aeneas Wolferstan, and Brinley Hurford.
It was the morning of August 6, 2019 at the age of 94 that Eunice passed from this world to her life's goal of dancing with Jesus.
The family would like to thank Dr. Galway for her dedicated care with lots of laughter, the CV Hospital staff, medivac team, and the amazing staff of Hospice for their patience, love, and professionalism.
Those who would like to say their final farewell to Eunice may view her at Comox Valley Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre 1101 Ryan Rd. on Tuesday, August 13 between 2 pm and 4 pm. Also on Tuesday, prayers are being offered at Christ The King Catholic Church 1599 Tunner Dr. at 7 pm where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father David Hogman on Wednesday August 14 at 1 pm.
