On Monday, March 9, 2020, Eugene van Anrooy, loving father and grandfather passed away at age 61.
Eugene was born on April 28, 1958 in Montreal, Canada to Hein and Metje. He served in the Canadian Navy from 1976 -1991. Eugene travelled the world during his service. In 1984, he met Donna Foote while playing tennis. In 1988 they moved to the Comox Valley and in 1991, they welcomed their twins, Tyler and Janelle. After his retirement from the Navy, Eugene worked as a car salesman for the following 15 years.
Eugene's first passion was for skiing. Followed by his love for fishing. His greatest love was his children. He was known for his humor, generosity and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Hein and his mother, Metje. He is survived by his two children, Tyler and Janelle, his grandchild, Wade and his sister Liz.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
