December 16, 1927 - February 3, 2021
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our Mom.
Estelle was born at home in West Vancouver on December 16, 1927.
She grew up in East Vancouver as part of a large family.
Mom and Dad married in 1950 in Vancouver, and moved to Campbell River in 1956.
Together, they raised 4 children.
Mom loved her home by the beach, where she lovingly tended the garden and enjoyed the view of the ocean for 55 years.
She lived a long and full life, filled with her love for her family.
She had a passion for learning and was always well-read and well-informed.
Mom taught us to live healthy, productive and socially responsible lives; and to always show compassion for others.
Estelle was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn (Campbell) and Lee Christieson; sisters Katherine, June, Valerie, and Inez; brothers William and Jack; niece Terry; two sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Gordon Clarke; sister Gabrielle Weber; sister-in-law Edna Clarke; children Robert Clarke (Susan), Catherine Galloway (Jim), Brenda Schmidt (Rick), Beverly Clarke (Mick); grandchildren Lupine Billingsley, Aralia Billingsley, Oliver Galloway (Ashley), Andrew Galloway (Lindsay), Katie Mathew (Neal), Ben Schmidt (Kiersten), Steven Schmidt, and Rose McQuirter; great-grandchildren Marcus Billingsley, Kentaro Anson, Marlon Anson, Tessa Galloway, Charlotte Galloway, Violet Galloway, Austin Galloway, Isaac Galloway, André Mathew, and Francine Schmidt; nineteen nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
To the staff of Discovery Harbour Care Centre, we express sincere appreciation for the care given to Estelle over the last eighteen months.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Campbell River Hospital Auxiliary Society, or the Salvation Army.
Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
God could not be everywhere,
and, therefore,
he made Mothers.
