In Loving Memory ~
With hearts filled with sadness we share that Eric Oscarson passed away on Monday December 20th at the age of 80 years old.
Eric was born and raised in Port Alberni to parents, Eric Sr. from Sweden and Janet Oscarson from Scotland. He married in Port Alberni in 1960. Eric and Trudi met at the Plywood Mill, where they worked for many years. In the 1970's they bought the Tidebrook Motel.
Eric lived his 80 years to his fullest. He was a man that wasn't afraid to try something new whether it be a new line of work or a new hobby. He could accomplish anything he put his mind to.
Eric owned and operated Oscar's Bobcat service in the 1980's as well as a commercial fish boat called the First Lady.
In his later years, he owned Zippidy Zoom Deliveries, then delivered the Coffee News in Port Alberni. Everyone remembers his outgoing, chatty nature.
He had many passions which included sailboats, power boats, dancing the Tango with Trudi, carpentry, gold panning, model airplane building, cooking, music, nature and animals and time with his granddaughter, Araya.
Predeceased by his father, Eric Sr. in 1967 in a logging accident, then his mother Janet in 1969 and his sister Jessie in 2017.
Eric is survived by his loving family, younger brother Terry (Cathy), his former wife, Trudi, and his children, Marco (Charlotte), Tara, Julia, Roberta and Granddaughter, Araya as well as extended family living in Sweden, the USA and Canada that include: cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eric was very outgoing, a one of a kind, he will be dearly missed by his family and all the people he met along his journey.
Forever in our hearts.
By Eric's request there will not be a celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones wishing to honor Eric, can make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association or SPCA, where he worked as a youth.
