Emma Emilie Knopp was a caring wife, mother, oma, great oma, sister, and friend. She peacefully left us on June 21, 2021. Emma is predeceased by her parents, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Jakob, children Lilly (Bob) and Gary (Suzanne), sisters Hilda, Erika, Resi, brother Willi (Monika), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was born in Germany on September 29, 1931. In 1954, she moved to Canada with her two sisters and landed in Regina, SK for a year before taking a train west to Vancouver, BC. She soon met the love of her life while dancing, something they both enjoyed doing together for many years. She married Jakob on May 21, 1956. After a few years in Vancouver, they came to visit friends in the Comox Valley and decided to settle there to raise a family. In 1961, they bought a farm and started dairy farming.
Emma loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her large family and friends. The more people at her table, the happier she was. She enjoyed traveling the world with Jakob and met many friends along the way. Emma and Jakob took many great trips with close friends to Mexico and Hawaii. She found happiness in her garden where she grew lots of vegetables, fruits and beautiful flowers. Her grandchildren have fond memories of "Oma's garden". She especially loved her role as an Oma to her grandchildren and Oma-Oma to her great grandchildren.
