It is with great sadness that the family of Ellen Ralph announces her passing in Campbell River, BC on March 6, 2018
Ellen was born in Edmonton, and raised in Westlock, AB with her father Maurice, mother Myffanwy and two sisters, Jean and Maureen. Ellen met and married the love of her life Lloyd Fremlin Ralph in 1948. They lived on the family farm in Manola, AB and this is where their 4 boys were born.
In 1961, the family moved to Langley, BC and then to Richmond, BC in 1970. They moved to Duncan in 1974 and shortly after that they opened Cowichan Hydraulics. In 1978, they expanded the company and opened a branch in Campbell River, BC, leaving son’s Randy and Gary to manage the operations in Duncan and they were joined in Campbell River by youngest son Brian.
Ellen worked as the bookkeeper for Cowichan Hydraulics until she retired in 1991. When they retired from the business in 1991, they sold the company to three of their sons. In retirement they enjoyed winters in Arizona, golfing, doing crafts and spending time with close friends.
In the summer months they enjoyed their beautiful view home in Campbell River, gardening, camping and spending time with family. Lloyd passed away in 2002 and Ellen continued to live independently. She was very active in the Altrusa Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved to paint, and was an accomplished artist.
She is predeceased by her father, Maurice Lajarise, mother, Myffanwy (Jones) Lajarise, sister, Jean (Lajarise) Sawyer, and her loving husband and partner Lloyd Fremlin Ralph.
She is survived by her sister Maureen (Lajarise) McCubbin, her sons Len (Janet), Gary (Cathy), Randy (Linda), Brian (Patty), six grand-sons, five grand-daughters, and 20 great-grandchildren.
