January 5, 1930 - February 4, 2022
Ellemay Bishop of Shawnigan Lake, passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital on February 4, 2022 at the age of 92 years. May was born in Zenon Park, SK on January 5, 1930 to Omer and Eva Genereux, a large French Canadian family of 11 children.
May is survived by her only remaining sibling Georgette Lamb; sister in law Ruth Genereux; daughter Maureen Winter; sons: Gary and Mark Bishop; grandson Trevor (Julie) Winter; and great grandsons: Max, Jacob and Marcus.
She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 2000.
May was very young when the "Genereux Clan" moved to Shawnigan Lake where she resided in her home until the end. Mom and Dad worked hard all their lives but enjoyed RV'ing with family and friends, boating and fishing (mom fished and dad ran the boat).
Mom was known to enjoy Bingo and made many new friends over the years. In the earlier years, she loved cooking big family dinners and for all of our friends: "Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding and the best pies."
Mom worked at a variety of jobs in the area: Shawnigan Lake School, Cliffside School, The Cedars, Shawnigan Royal Canadian Legion. She was fortunate to enjoy good health until 2 weeks ago.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses and other care workers at Cowichan District Hospital for making Mom comfortable. We miss her greatly. Rest in peace Mom.
A private family Celebration of Life and Interment will be held at a later date.
