Ella May Pearse (nee Burke) was born in Timmins, Ontario in 1924. Ella was predeceased by her husband Desmond, son Daniel and daughter Donna.
She will be dearly missed by daughters Kathy (Gerald), Julie (Dan), son-in-law John, grandchildren Matthew (Yarrow), Jennah (Ayo), Andrew (Alex), Daniel (Diana), great-grandchildren Niko, Hunter, Isla and Bronson and two more on the way, sister Carmel (Ontario), nieces/nephews and cousins in BC and Ontario and friends of the family.
Ever optimistic and positive, Ella was a dedicated, respected, caring member of the Campbell River community. Over the course of nearly four decades she volunteered her time in numerous non-profit organizations. A lifetime member of Br #137 of the Royal Canadian Legion, she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Silver Cross Mother, an avid canvasser for the Poppy Fund, and participated in years of fundraising efforts which supported local community charities and activities.
She also was a volunteer with the CR&D Association for Community Living Program for Persons with Disabilities, a member of the Campbell River United Church Women's Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles LA Aerie #3097 in Campbell River where in every instance she gave of her heart and soul to the benefit of others in her community.
Paramount in Ella's life was her family. She was happiest when surrounded by all. Throughout her life of ups and downs, her glass was always half full. Preferably with scotch! She loved life and music and fun. Our lives won't be the same without her but we'll take it 'One day at a time.'
A family celebration will be held November 25th in Campbell River.
