June 22, 1943 - January 15, 2021
It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Ella Mae Bannerman, loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Ella Mae was born on June 22, 1943 in Red Deer, AB. She was the oldest of six children. She started working at 16 at AGT as a telephone operator which she thoroughly enjoyed for a number of years.
Family was everything to Ella Mae. She enjoyed celebrating all the big holidays and birthdays, decorating and making grand dinners.
Her lifelong devotion to her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, gave her great joy and solace.
Volunteering was her passion; she loved serving people. She was with the Cancer Society for 20 years and also volunteered with other organizations which earned her many awards.
After her children became independent she went back to college, received her paralegal certificate and then worked with a local law firm in Red Deer.
In 2004, Ella Mae moved to Vancouver Island to be closer to family and warmer winters. With her late husband Roy Bannerman she enjoyed cruising the island in their motorhome camping and fishing, often combining their trips with church activities.
Ella Mae leaves to mourn her three sisters, one brother, two children, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
We thank the Avenir Memory Care and all of their staff for the love and care she received.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
