With sadness, we announce the passing of Mary Marshall, with both her daughters by her side. She is survived by Janet Marshall (Rolph Krayenhoff) and Barbara (Jim) Lewko, grandsons Scott, Bruce and Chad Krayenhoff, great-grandson Ethan Roy-Krayenhoff, and her sister, Nancy Thomas, and several nieces and nephews, in Britain. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug, and three of her siblings.

Mary was born and raised in Cornwall, England, and worked in the Food Rations office during WW2. She met Doug, an RAF pilot, during the war years and moved to Vancouver, BC in October 1948 to marry him. She worked as a bookkeeper prior to them building their own home in North Vancouver, then a summer cottage at Cultus Lake, which eventually became their retirement home. During their retirement years, they spent 25 winters in Mesa, Arizona, as well as travelling extensively. Mary moved to the Comox Valley after Doug passed away in 2009.

Mary provided a loving home for her husband and children (and 2 cats!), and was an avid gardener and bridge player. She enjoyed the camaraderie of numerous close friends over many years. She had a passion for genealogy, tracing her family back to the 1500's, and loved the ocean waves of Goose Spit and Tofino, reminding her of her native Cornwall.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Glacier View Lodge, who have created a real community for their residents. Also to the kind staff at Stevenson Place, where Mary lived when first arriving in the Comox Valley. And a very special thank you to our amazing team of private caregivers, who supported and loved Mary over several years.

A memorial tea will be held in the Glacier View Day Program room on Saturday, October 27th at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glacier View Book of Lights Fund, 2450 Back Road, Courtenay, BC V9N 8B5.
