Manson, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) passed away unexpectedly in Duncan, BC on July 21, 2020. She was born in Nanaimo on January 24th 1958 and graduated from Cowichan Secondary in 1976 after her family moved to Duncan. She then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Victoria BC, graduating with a Nursing Diploma in 1979.
While working as a Registered Nurse she furthered her education, with a BSc in Nursing from the University of Victoria and a Post Graduate Degree in Operating Room Management & Technique at the University of Alberta. She worked in hospitals in Ladysmith, Prince George and Edmonton and spent most of her career as an Operating Room Nurse in the Victoria General Hospital where she advanced her career as a Clinical Nurse Leader, Head Nurse and Nurse Manager, before transferring to the Cowichan District Hospital in 2010 where she worked until retiring in 2013.
She loved spending time with her pets, they meant the world to her, especially her dog Boyse. Elizabeth also loved music. She enjoyed singing, and playing her guitar, piano and flute. Her family will always fondly remember her leading their Christmas sing-alongs.
Elizabeth had a strong faith in Jesus and was an active participant in church throughout her lifetime.
Predeceased by her father Bill Manson and her brother Mike Manson, she is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her mother Alma Manson, her siblings Jim (Toom) Manson and Tricia (Terry) Parker, her nieces and nephews Gregory (Scott) Manson, Shane (Raylene) Manson, Wes (Christy) Linde, Nicola (Dave) Hannon and Anna Parker as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the First Memorial Chapel in Duncan on August 11th, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the SPCA, the World Wildlife Federation or any other recognized organization that works to improve animal welfare.
