May 13, 1961 - January 28, 2021
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Elaine Louise Julia Bartier on January 28, 2021 in Courtenay, BC, at the age of 59.
Elaine was raised in the Okanagan Valley and worked at the Summerland Research Station. Elaine earned her degree at the University of Victoria and she perfected her French while working for Ciba Geigy in Switzerland. She taught Grades 1 & 2 for many years, mainly at EDM in Campbell River.
Elaine was a deeply committed mother of two boys, for whom she centred her life, whether it was in keeping a warm and lovely home or driving them all over BC and Canada to chess tournaments or hockey games.
Elaine was a gardener, a traveller, and a caring and beautiful person who will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be remembered for her kind, generous, and fearless nature as well as her humour and quick wit.
Predeceased by her parents Julia and Bernard Bartier, Elaine will be missed by her two sons, Moïse and Michael, her stepmother June, siblings Kevin (Cheryl), Don (Sheila), Patrick (Alison), Janet (Bill), Michael (Jodi), and Carolyn (Steve), along with many extended family and friends.
We look forward to celebrating Elaine's life when we are allowed to gather again.
