February 19, 2021
It is with greatest sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Edmund Braun, affectionately known as Ed, after many years of health struggles.
Ed passed peacefully February 19th 2021, at the age of 71 with his family by his side.
Ed was an inspirational man who dedicated himself to success in life and business with an uncanny ability to see what most people couldn't.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, youngest of three, predeceased by his mother, father, sister Ellie and survived by his sister Louise (Reg).
His family travelled to California and then headed to the Lower Mainland, eventually settling on Vancouver Island.
Ed's life on the island involved his work with the revival of the Fish & Game Clubs, where he was an integral part of creating safe spaces for our youth to learn.
He had a great love for the ocean and shared boating memories with his children. He was an avid collector, and well known in his community.
Ed was very proud of his family and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Petra, "Papa" to three children, Melissa (Tom), Kristoffer (Cathy) and Trevor (Mali).
Grandfather to three grandchildren whom he adored, Charlize, Danika and Ashton. He will also be remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends.
At this time, there will not be a funeral. The family will hold a private memorial when COVID restrictions permit.
Ed was a supporter of the Variety Club, donations may be made in his memory.
