December 16, 1930 - October 6, 2019
It is with great sorrow that we say good-bye to our wonderful mother, sister, Aunt, friend, Nan, great Nan and great, great Nan...
Mom was born into a large family of 12 right here in Courtenay, she lived her entire life in the beautiful Comox Valley.
One of moms first love would be her grandchildren, 32 people were born because of mom and her 7 children.
The grandchildren gave mom a spectacular life, full of adventure, smiles and of course much pride & love.
Mom's second love would definitely be her gardens, she could have easily been a professional gardener, landscape architectextraordinaire...
She loved to garden, from first light to dust, even dark she'd be in the gardens.
She'd head out to put the coffee grounds at the peach tree and hours later we'd find her outside... pulling horsetail.
As many of you know, moms' gardens were a peaceful awesome place to be... they appeared in Better Homes and Gardens, Horticultural tours, they were a perfect setting for wedding photos and family gatherings.
Mom had a quick sense of humour and was a fiery old gal, she entertained the relatives, our friends, all the neighbours and for special occasions we'd use all three table in the house!
With 7 of her own children you wouldn't believe how her house sparkled, she had systems, schedules and pure determination to get things done even if it took till midnight!
Visitors were petrified to use her garbage can.
Mom was our glue to keeping the family together...a safe place where many took refuge.
As life would have it, moms 99-year-old brother Ronnie passed just hours later... his children believe his sister(Fay) came back to get him!
