May 10, 1922 - November 29, 2020
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Drusilla Bryson on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Drusilla passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours.
Drusilla "Dee" was born in Revelstoke, BC on May 10, 1922, grew up in Revelstoke, Nanaimo, and then Port Alberni. Dee married Charles Dennett Bryson on November 17, 1945 and their celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary before his passing in 2011.
Survived by their 4 children, daughter, Joanne (Don) Ross; son, Douglas (Karen) Bryson; daughter, Nancy Harvey; and son, Norman (Heidi) Bryson. Blessed with 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren - they were her favourite things.
Dee outlived her brothers, Bill and Dick and sister, Yvonne all of which enjoyed happy lives.
Dee loved her children and grandchildren and thought nothing of spending hours cooking with them, teaching them how to make cookies, cakes, and other treats; doing crafts appropriate for whichever the season happened to be.
Dee and Charles moved to Vancouver in 1966 and lived in the same home in the Oakridge District until 2010. She attended business school at Redford in Port Alberni. During the war, Dee, like many other women, worked at the Alberni Pacific Division Mill.
She continued bookkeeping after she was "kicked out" when the men returned and continued a lengthy career in Accounting at St Vincent's Hospital after the move to Vancouver.
"Twill Do" was their second home, and spending time at Sproat Lake was high on the priority list. The many years of holidays, weekends, and vacation time brought the most joy to her. She taught her children how to swim at the lake as dad was not a great swimmer even he took time to learn from her. Dee was an avid seamstress and loved to sew and crochet. Many of the things she made were for her grandchildren or great grandchildren.
A special thank you to all of the staff at Rainbow Gardens in Port Alberni for their kindness and love during her last years. There will be no service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be planned as a family gathering in the future. In lieu of flowers expression of sympathy can be made to a charity of your choice.
