January 15, 1941 - May 8, 2020
We are sad to announce the death of our father, Ed Piggott. He died peacefully on May 8th from end stage dementia at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria in the presence of his daughters and to a soundtrack of birdsong with the occasional crow of a rooster. He was very much loved and will be missed and remembered by his children, grandchildren as well as family, friends and acquaintances on Cortes and around the world.
Ed started his teaching career in Canada in Prince George. In 1974 he and his family moved to Cortes Island where he was the principal at the Cortes School. He taught there and in Campbell River until his retirement. Once he found Cortes, he never wanted to leave - it was here where his love of country life, self-reliance, animals, tinkering with cars and boats and living by the sea could really take shape in amongst the enjoyment he had in teaching.
Ed was a character and will be very missed - "everyone has an Ed story"
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, post social-distancing, travel restrictions, etc.
